ABOUT DALE DEACON
Changing the VR game
In 19, he started the WeAreVR JOZI & WeAreVR AFRICA communities to coordinate the education and collaboration of designers and developers in the fields of VR, AR and 360 video.
He also presented VR at Playtopia in Cape Town, started a local VR/AR podcast, arranged a VR/AR meetup at the Fak'ugesi digital arts festival, lectures modules of the University of Johannesburg's VR short learning programme (a first at UJ) and with Dr. Abejide Ade-Ibijola, established UJ's own VR Lab.
Today, the WeAreVR community spans 4 cities across Africa and Deacon is currently beta testing his team's South African-made VR therapy software, awaiting their launch.
