Lethokuhle's Biography
A 4th-year student studying for my Diploma: ICT in Applications Development at the Durban University of Technology, a Beta Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador (MLSA) and a Test Analyst Apprentice at KCP. She started doing IT in her first year at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and have since had a passion for the 4th Industrial Revolution - especially IoT. Being part of the IoT & Robotics club on campus we taught primary school and high school learners about IoT and Robotics, including the teachers.
Later on, she got familiarized with the MLSA program and felt that it was a great platform for her to enhance her skills and teach more youngsters in her community about how tech is changing our lives radically. From then, she saw that women were not treated equally in STEM, so she moved her focus more toward women in tech. Now, with a platform like Inspire SA, we are able to talk to more women and learn about their journey in the tech industry. Everything that has happened in just over a year has been the best experience in my tech journey thus far - 2021 being the best year in discovering myself and what is yet to come.
MLSA & Geekulcha have given her the platform to put herself out there. She has overcome fear to speak on a public platform and this is only the beginning. She needs to see more girls to realize that it is possible to be successful in world that is dominated by men, and that we are yet to bridge that gap and become equal.

The biggest risk is not taking any risk. In a world that's changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks. - Mark Zuckerberg
Dear South African Geeks,
Do not let anyone tell you that your dreams are invalid or that you are too ambitious. If you feel like you can change the world through teaching - do it, if you feel like you are the next Elon Musk, work your way towards that goal every single day. Only rest when you feel like you have reached your desired goal. Never stop learning, and always be thirsty for knowledge. "
