Business Intelligence Datathon 2020

In March 2020, in collaboration with ITWeb, UNISA and the CPSI, Geekulcha held a 36-hour datathon which saw over 20 teams of software developers from across South Africa build datadriven and AI solutions using datasets from opendataza.gitbook.io, datahub.io and data.vulekamali.gov.za.

The winning solution, GuardianHealth, used historical data and machine learning to extract data and make predictions to help healthcare professionals assess the risk of foetail abnormalities or risks to the mother’s health. The team has since launched Guardian Health as a tele-health startup and the award-winning app is available on the App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei App Gallery.
